Upflow Sludge Blanket Filtration (USBF™)

The USBF™ technology has a broad range of applications from small residential wastewater treatment units to medium and large sized municipal and industrial treatment plants.

The USBF™ has a Modular and Flexible Design. This allows for greater flexibility for the Client. If the Client has a current need for a small or medium sized plant, but plans to expand in the future, they have the option to utilize a prefabricated steel package plant and can in the future expand to an additional prefabricated steel package plant. Another option for the Client is to construct the concrete tank structure and insert and add the Clarifier Trains into the Concrete Tanks as their needs grow. Each Train incorporates all processes into one compact bioreactor.

Randazza manufactures and supplies complete pre-fabricated steel package wastewater treatment plants or clarifiers with all the internal piping, troughs and required internal equipment for field installation within custom designed concrete tanks.

Concrete Plants

The Concrete USBF™ plants are designed for large sized Municipal and Industrial applications. Generally, the Concrete Plant option is recommended for Wastewater Treatment of 300,000 GPD or greater. The Concrete Tank structure is built based on the Design Calculations, and contains a series of Trains, each of which functions as a complete Wastewater Treatment Plant. This allows for Phased expansions as well as giving the Client the flexibility to expand as needed. Also, if there are fluctuations in flows due to seasonal capacity changes a Train may be shutdown with no affect to the efficiency of the process.

The Equipment Package for the Concrete Plant consists of Clarifiers fabricated from Steel or Stainless Steel. All vessels and structural members are fabricated to conform to the requirements of the American Welding Society’s Code. The Clarifiers are entirely shop pre-fabricated and shipped to the site and installed within Concrete tanks. The Clarifiers are either prism or conical shaped and since they can be installed within virtually any existing vessel they can be the solution to existing underperforming plants retrofits.

In addition to the Clarifiers for the USBF™ Equipment Package, Randazza provides the Internal Piping, Troughs, Air Blowers, Pumps, Air Piping, FlexiAir and Disc Diffusers, Mixers, RAS and WAS tank and Pre-wired Control for the Concrete Plants, all fabricated and ready to be placed in the Concrete Tank Structure.

Steel Package Plants

The Steel USBF™ Package Plants are designed for small, medium and large sized Municipal and Industrial applications. The Steel Package Plant option is recommended for Wastewater Treatment of less than 300,000 GPD. The Steel Package Plant is prefabricated tank based on the Design Calculations, and contains the Aeration and Anoxic Compartment, Clarifiers, Sludge Holding Tank, Equalization Tank and Chlorine Contact Tank inside one compact bioreactor.

The Steel USBF™ Package Plant has a small footprint and is suitable for many applications. The Steel Package Plants are ideal for municipalities, communities, subdivisions, seasonal resorts, restaurants, shopping centers and hotels. The plant can expanded for future growth by adding plants or if the Daily Flow decreases due fluctuations in population, part of the plant can be shutdown.

The Steel USBF™ Package Plant comes completely factory assembled with all the equipment and components installed and ready to be placed into operation. The Steel USBF™ Package Plant is delivered to the jobsite completely factory assembled with all equipment and components ready to be placed on the concrete slab. Once the influent and effluent piping have been connected and the electricity has been provided to the pre-wired control panel the USBF™ plant is ready to be placed into service.

The Steel USBF™ Package Plant is shop fabricated from ¼” thick plate.  All steel surfaces are factory sandblasted to SSPC 10 and painted with two (2) coats of TNEMEC Coal Tar Epoxy inside and two (2) coats of TNEMEC Series 69 polyamide epoxy paint outside in Fountain Blue or the color selected by the Client to a minimum of 10 mils DFT. All vessels and structural members are fabricated to conform to the requirements of the American Welding Society’s Code.
