Tertiary Treatment

Microscreen Filters

The fully automatic stainless steel Fontana Microscreen Filter uses differential pressure between incoming and outgoing water levels to filter the suspended solids. The 304 or 316 stainless steel filter media is made from interchangeable half cylindrical segments attached to the filter drum frame. Effluent from the wastewater treatment plant can either be pumped or gravity fed into the inside of the drum. The effluent is filtered outward through the stainless steel filter media, with the solids accumulating on the inside. The automatic pressurized backwash system, using its own filtered effluent, is activated when the factory set sensors high water level is reached. The backwash mud/solids can be discharged into a mudwell or to any other discharge area.

Integrated Coarse Pre-Treatment IHP

The Fontana Integrated Coarse Pretreatment IHP is a combination of a Pretreatment Mechanical Self Cleaning Screen, with a Grit and FOG Removal Chamber. The IHP is designed to remove a wide range of solids found in domestic and industrial wastewater. Solids captured from the wastewater are carried upward on the Rake Belt Assembly and discharged into a screenings washer and screenings compactor. After de-watering and compaction, the screenings are transported by a steel screw conveyor/chute and discharged into a dumpster. Simultaneously, as the heavy solids are being removed by the Self Cleaning Mechanical Screen, the influent continues to flow into the longitudinal Grit Chamber. In this Chamber, the Grit and FOG (Fats, Oils and Grease) are separated. The FOG is trapped by a baffle on the surface of the water level. The Grit flows down the inclined walls to the bottom, to a Screw Conveyor where it is transported in intervals to a cistern to a container.
